Idi Ali was born in Benin-City, now Edo State of Nigeria. He obtained an LL. B (Hons) from the University of Maiduguri and was called to Nigeria Bar 20 years ago after undergoing training at the Nigeria Law School, Abuja.

Mr. Ali worked in private legal practice in the firm of Tayo Jegede, SAN, for over ten years, during the time he served as head of chambers for more than four years. He also worked at the American University of Nigeria, Yola, as the Secretary to the Board of Trustees and In-House Counsel. During his service with the American University of Nigeria, Mr. Idi provided support in the areas of secretariat, governance, legal and administrative functions, both in the management of the University, Governing Council and Board of Trustees respectively. In addition to his wide knowledge and experience in the legal field, Mr. Idi also garnered considerable experience in various aspects of management during the seven years he served the University.

Mr. Ali is currently the founding partner/principal of Idi Ali & Associates, offering legal services to organizations and the community. Other areas of interest and practice for Mr. Ali includes providing health and well-being support to members of the general public, experience he drew from his previous experience working with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency during the NYSC drugs-free activities.

Mr. Idi is joining Iya Patu Foundation as the Lead, Legal Services.
